not only this 'mature' album but I can't really recognize this band as being in a playlist of mine since apparently 3 years ago I listened the band's discography in spotify and listed it for download but now that I did it, what a mess... nothing's good here, I'll delete it :D

Cimbric Yarns is definitely in my top 5 albums of the year. Strongly doubt anyone will come close to Andy James' superb offering in the metal landscape, IMO, although this album certainly has its many moments. The last track especially so. Just wondrous.

Agreed about the female vocals on the new slab, they're a blight on what is otherwise a great album. I feel they could have included at least a couple of longer songs in here somewhere to round the album off instead. Still, I'm replaying most of the album since its release. Eternal Defiance was definitely a stronger offering in contrast, IMO.

I like female vocals, but I've never cared much for SuidAkrA's choice of female vocalists.

Well i dont exactly dislike the female vocals, but there is just way too much of them in this album. Not decently added like on Crogacht. Not bad album though, but i see kind of downgrade trend from their best years, which is for me until Crogacht (included), and thats kinda worriyng.

This new album would be alright if not for those obnoxious femvocals. The entire middle part, starting with undaunted and ending with braving the end, is a fucking joke. At least it's better than the garbage that was Eternal Defiance, but it's not like that's a very hard thing to do.

Eternal Defiance is a pretty bland, lifeless record. My prediction some time back seems to have come to fruition. The Arcanum still remains their best.

I don't agree at all, I've tried and tried to get into Eternal Defiance but it just isn't working, nothing hooks me in at all. Not only is it less folky but also sorely lacking on the melodeath side of things. And yeah I agree with Darth_Roxor that they've over-used the female vocals. The sound is also horribly compressed which really doesn't help.

Pair Dadeni is cool, yeah. Just a shame that it's followed by the most ridiculous disney ballad I've heard in years.

I'm disappointed as well. It seems Eternal Defiance is to Book of Dowth what Crógacht was to Caledonia: basically a rehash that recycles lots upon lots of stuff from the previous album, but doesn't manage to sound even half as good. It's "just" alright, instead of great. Also, they've seriously, SERIOUSLY overused the female vocals on this one.

I had high hopes for this album after reading some positive reviews and you guys' comments. But I have to say I'm disappointed. Muddy production and nothing memorable, and a few overly cheesy moments. But I thought Book of Dowth was their best album and it seems some of you don't like it much.
