Many things don't change in Stings writing -- the quality of music and lyrics is as high as ever, arrangements are sophisticated, rythms diverse.. But if there's anything that you could say became even better with years passing, then it is actually his VOICE, in my mind. It might sound a bit heretic, but I've personally always found many of the songs from early Sting to suffer exclusively because of how painfully high his voice was in them. A great example would be Roxanne: try listening to a Police performance from the 80s and then the "My Songs" version from 2019 in a row, and you will probably agree with what I mean.

I throughly enjoyed The Bridge, even though I was really dissapointed in the singles If It's Love and Rushing Water, the album really good increasingly good as it went on, my absolute favourite is Harmony Road, which has a nice building to it and the breakdown in the middle-end of the song blow me away, then Captain Bateman is my second favourite, really catchy and kind of 'uplifting' in its tone, and the electronic twang it adds in the outro of the song is so damn powerful, I was curious about Captain Bateman's Basement as I thought it was a continuation with an epic tone or something, it didn't end up like that and it's more of a groove thing with Sting doing the vocal harmony following his basslines, which was a really nice surprise and I ended up loving it, other highlights include Loving You which has something like a 2000s pop feel, and The Bells of St. Thomas.

Liked both Bateman tracks also, liked "Harmony Road" also (that breakdown in the middle that you mentioned -- such a reminder of Sting's early material for a moment:). But my top track of the album all in all would be "The Bells of St. Thomas" -- the music here is just magically beautiful and atmospheric. And also you didn't name "For Her Love"? I personaly liked it a lot. If only it didn't evoke "Shape of My Heart" so heavily with that guitar line.. :)

Yessss!! The breakdown of Harmony Road reminded me of something but couldn't pinpoint to what, but it really does sound like something out of the Blue Turtles album. I like For Her Love quite a bit now but it was a slow grower, I didn't mind it at first though. Have you catched the live performances of that song? I believe they sound better live than in the album version.

The Pantheon Concert version I liked better, yeah; they made the voice go slightly to the rare of the mix (not so much in front of everything else, as is done on the album), and I think it's for the better because the music is so rich and delicate -- you wish to hear it in full. And the only other one I found is at Jimmy Kimmel, but it seems to be nearly exactly the same as on the album. With Sting's voice also turned down somewhat though. Probably it's what you liked in them (me also).

It’s referencing an actual dream he had about blue turtles. I doubt turtle gender played much of a role in it.

During the last 25 years, I really wanted to like everything one of my first musical idols was releasing. But every time I listen to him, I am reminded once again the guy was artistically finished in the early nineties. His work with "The Police" and the later jazz infused debut and follow-up have been fantastic and what was following was really solid stuff. After "Bland New Day" he got real boring. Now he is trying hard to extract what is left of his music. Songs, once great, ruined by uninspired arrangements and singing that's not up to the task. Especially his collection "My Songs" seems to have only one purpose: cashing in. Musically it's nothing but terrible.

Half of the tracks on "My Songs" album felt like there really was no point in re-recording them for they remained nearly exactly the same as they were (with minor contemporarities inserted here and there). Such are: "Shape of my heart", "Desert Rose", "Every Breath You Take" (became somewhat better though imho, because backvocals here made by Sting himself, not by the women trio as is usual for this song), "Fragile" and "Englishman in New York". Considering that these are also some of the most well-known tracks by Sting ever, in my view there was even less need re-recording them..

For that matter, hearing far less popular "So Lonely" or "Spirits in the Material World" was more welcome, even though they also were not changed much. Of the tracks which did change musically I liked "Can't Stand Losing You" and "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free" (which felt exactly as if DaftPunk helped Sting there a bit:).

The best I can figure is that it was a management decision to have studio versions of the Police songs under the solo catalogue for future compilations to screw over Stewart and Andy.

I prefer by far the work of David Sylvian after Japan than Sting after The Police. Both bands were fantastic. As for Steven Wilson, I enjoy Porcupine Tree and some of Blackfield but I don't know anything of his solo career.
