Amazing song, one of his best! It's a shame that many today only know him for his love ballads, because his funky stuff is by far where it's at! Love the message in the lyrics, Stevie and his funk/soul brethren of the 60s and 70s were excellent lyricists, really had their ear to the concerns of their community. So unlike the popular music artists of today.

This song is similar in style to Superstition...but I actually prefer it. Very funky, plus the Jackson 5 cameo and political message. Great song.

I like the video, but at the time it came out, I believed that the song was aimed at local politicians who sold out rather than serve the communities that supported them.

Since this song was the only one chosen for the hit single from Fulfillingness' First Finale, it is strong enough to speak for the entire piece of work of this project, although the rest of the songs can speak volumes for themselves. I hated the fact that the other song were just outright 'ignored' by the radio media. Well, except for maybe 'Boogie On Reggae Woman', and 'Creepin'. And another small detail, did anyone notice the artwork of Stevie's accident with the tree-log from the truck, within the album cover graphics. Yes, this release is a treasure in itself. So 'Smile Please'.
