My favorite SRV song. The live version on "In Step" is particularly remarkable. This is SRV's Little Wing. Sounds a lot like it. SR took a great song, and made it into a stone-cold classic. Absolutley chilling.

About that "In Step" live version: that plea in the middle of the song is everything. It's an excellent blues rock tune throughout it's 13 minutes and SRV's guitar abilities really shine through, but what makes it song is that little window that he carves to show us what he really was. Something special, that.

This song came to mind when a friend was tragicly taken away from this earth this past Saturday. SRV has always been one of my favorite musicians. This song was written for his close friend Charlie Wirz. Charlie actualy built the white strat SRV plays in this song. SRV was without a doubt one of the most soulful musicians ever, past or present. This song just breaks me down every time.
