Definition of a grower. I remember thinking 'this is good, but nowhere near HCE', and okay, it isn't in the same league as HCE, but it is an excellent record. One of his finest.

Wrote this off when it first came out. Probably because of superficial reasons (why did you make yourself a smurf, SW!? whyyyyy). All the poppy and proggy PT/SW elements I typically enjoy are here though. The various 80's influences are lovely.

This album is trash and stagnant. Funny that it's the stab at the mainstream. So disappointing. Be unknown and hated. That's where quality lies.

I raped my dad to this album and he said he was horribly distressed with my choice of music.

''Song of I'' tag is not working properly. I have converted the original album to mp3 and there is no Sophie Hunger tags on it so basically when having it scrobbled it displays blank album cover. Here we have 495 scrobbles of this track. People already scrobbled it around 5k and song is tagged only with ''Song of I''

With this one I think he plays to the very edges of his own instincts, without going overboard. At least for me it does, as there are people here who I respect who are already writing epitaphs for his creativity. It was only really when I listened to the album fully that I appreciated it more. And I can appreciate the fact that he tried for something more up-beat with some of these songs, if even it comes off heavy-handed like "Permanating". The ultimate judgment of this will be time, and how his material in the future is handled. I feel like every record is different in as much that the mood shifts every time, but his characteristics he can call his own make them unique apart from whatever genre he is tipping his hat too. And this is certainly no different.

Is this the logical conclusion of music as an art form? Where could it possibly go after this? Does this represent the human brain's highest capacity to create art? How could the formula of music ever improve beyond this point? Since there is nowhere to go after this, no way to ever top this, no way to surpass this in any way should every band, every musician just give up at this point? What human being could possibly add anything more to the concept of music after this album? Why would you even try? How could you even try? What could you possibly do to add innovation after this has been released? Even after our biological evolution has ended, even after we have mastered transhumanism, even after the universe has become one living, thinking AI with every single atom, all 10^82 of them being used to create something with more artistic value than this album, could it be done? I think not. I think there is nowhere to progress in music. I think we have reached the end.

Solid grower. Damn it Steven, this was the time you were going to disappoint. I guess you just can't.

Meh, I like the album. 7/10. It's "catchy", it's refreshing and somewhat easy listen. Still has that SW effect; the production is way too polished and feels soulless. But there are times I dig that sound. Might listen to this album couple more times and switch to something else. Might go back and listen to "In Absentia" once more.

I think this is incredible. It has elements and sounds that span his entire career and none of it feels rehashed. The fact that people mock it or hate it is hilarious to me.
