Hypnotic, but in an 'awakening' sense sums this up beautifully. I love it at around 10:00 when the depth of field seems to somehow expand (or maybe it's just the effect on my mind)

Ahhhhh.... Just love this meditation in sparkling, swirling sound; always lightens your mood. This is the piece where he found his mid-career style of vibes and marimbas set off against long, held tones, in this case with the abstract vocals. He wrote that he was working out patterns on a marimba or something, and suddenly noticed that he was singing those long tones, subconsciously composing a tonal setting for the rhythmic parts. (Our world fusion stuff - nothing to do with Reich, though:) http://rosswriting.com/sympatico Woodstock, NY

One of his best. It's '18 musicians' but dubbed out and lying on a beach (or in a forest) somewhere.
