I know all my scrobbles are under 'Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks' and it's registering as a totally seperate entity which is super furstrating! maybe other folks are in the same boat and it lowers the overall listeners listed

I love Sparkle Hard and it's the first post-Pavement SM album I've heard, any suggestion on what should I listen to next and why?

the first malkmus (2000) is magnificent, almost a pavement album. then I especially like "mirror traffic", very inspired and excellent production of beck, great record ;)

I knew this band through Winamp bundle at first with "Baltimore", oh how I was so little and Spotify didn't exist back then. Fast forward, I discovered Pavement and eventually led me back to this band.

All that said, I do love the recent album and saw the Jicks on tour earlier this year. One thing of note: They *chose* to play Pavement songs which really surprised me. I'd seen them a couple times and they wholly refused the idea in the past. So they encore like bands do and Steve cuts Range life off @ about the minute mark claiming he had "forgot the lyrics". Now, I couldn't care less if Jicks play Pavement songs but for fucks sake, if you're going to consciously decide to play them (on the setlist), play them proper. Otherwise, just don't play them at all.

I must be losing my marbles, but I've been listening to the new LP for months now, and I genuinely like better than most Pavement songs. It's so consistent too; the second half is free of stinkers unlike Pavement records (e.g., "Billie", "Blue Hawaiian", "Two States", "Hit the Plane Down", or "Western Homes").

The Instrumental/Alternate version of Real Emotional Trash last night at Lee's in Toronto was mind bogglingly great.
