Nthato Mokgata (born 14 May 1985), known by his stage name Spoek Mathambo, is a South African artist, producer, singer-songwriter and rapper. Mathambo rose to fame in the late 2000s with his fusion of a wide array of musical influences. He is known for coining the term ‘Township Tech’, to describe his sound.

As front-man for electrorap outfits SWEAT.X and PLAYDOE, Spoek Mathambo has over the last couple of years become a increasingly prominent figure in the international music scene.

As a DJ, Spoek’s HIVIP project of promoting South African music has gathered widespread attention as far afield as the New York Times and Fader Magazine, and has seen him DJ in Norway, France, Sweden and Germany.
