Space Siren was a Dutch noise rock / shoegaze band from the province of Zuid-Holland, The Netherlands. Heavily influenced by bands such as Sonic Youth and My Bloody Valentine, Space Siren released two fill-length albums critical acclaim in The Netherlands and beyond: Mr Wagner, Please Give Us a Call (2012) and If You Scream Like That, Your Monkey Won't Come (2014).
The band started out in 2005 as the project of guitarist and producer, Corno Zwetsloot, and drummer, Ineke Duivenvoorde. The line-up was completed in 2008 with the addition of Aico Turba (bass) and Maaike (keys). Gwendolien Douglas took Maaike's place in 2009.
Space Siren's story was tragically cut short after the release of their acclaimed second LP. A planned tour of Britain had to be cancelled due to Corno Zwetsloot's cancer. He couldn't make the trip anymore and passed away on 27 November 2014, aged 49. The band finalized a farewell single in his honor, eventually turning it into an EP: the Songs for a Dead Pilot EP (2015), with additional tracks by Zea and Wolvon.
