Listening to it the first time in... 10 years maybe? I totally forgot about it (I know, I know. I was exploring other genres in the meantime and strayed away from metal) yet it seems that I still have the entire 29 minutes perfectly memorized. Fuck me (not literally), overrated or not it's still a classic for a reason.

Also it's insane how many songs are actually kinda catchy and not just an aggressive slab of blast, never thought about it back in the day but songs like Criminally Insane almost have this catchy hook-like quality in Tom's singing. Like it adds the melodic element to what still is brutal ass music so it's not pussified like melodeath or modern thrash but still fun . Should revisit South of Heaven and Seasons too, remember liking them a lot

Ever wondered what it would be like to sing Slayer to the Gucci Mane fanbase? Check out our punk/metal selection on Wrathaoke! Thousands of alternate song selections ranging from Slayer and Amorphis to SlipKnot and Metallica. Crushing production and thunderous instrumentals ready to shake up your local divebar! I have over 78 Slayer karaokes, btw, including ALL of Reign In Blood! https://rumble.com/c/c-1503115

Some may consider this album overrated and while I get why, I tend to actually like the tracks in between Angel of Death and Reign in Blood. They have this punk-ish quality to them that I admire. Either way, they really started and ended this album with a bang.

Every album ever recorded is both overrated and underrated by some. Who cares? The massive influence this albums has to this very day is what counts. 1986 was a massive year for metal, and the biggest year for thrash metal in particular. "Reign in Blood" in one of the reasons.

"Metal is boring" - me one week before hearing this album. "This is one of the greatest things I've ever heard in my entire life" - me one week after hearing this album

This is my favorite, it's the classic "in your face" kind of thrash, aggressive, fast. However, Hell Awaits is the best Slayer album.

disregard that, Hell Awaits is now my favorite (and forever the band's best work)
