Great record, still like their debut a tad better. I recommend for noise rock fans out there.

Far and away their best album, I think. Every song on here is good. Also if you're interested in owning it, if you buy the LP, the CD (without any text or a case) is inside the record case. It's just sliding around loosely in there, allowing Albini's disdain for digital media to remain intact.

Well, in the intervening years I've come to feel that Terraform is actually their best record, but 1000 Hurts is probably #2 (haven't really spent enough time with Dude Incredible yet to get a great handle on where I rank it in their discography) and, I think, Albini's finest hour with Shellac as a lyricist, and several of the songs here remain among my favorite Shellac songs. The only real "weakness" and the thing that ultimately made me prefer Terraform over it is that I think it represents a slight step back after the growth and experimentation with some different sounds and structures on that record; this one is mostly a bunch of (great) straight-ahead songs that kick your ass. Of course one of my knocks on Excellent Italian Greyhound is that they experimented a lot and several of the experiments fell flat in my estimation, so maybe I'm just a prick who's too hard to please. Anyway, don't get me wrong, I still love this record.

I want to start a country somewhere on an island or an archipelago or a peninsula or an isthmus or a fjord or an inlet or even a mountain, print up stamps and money there, and they'll all have Oswald's face.

Sounds like a more pissed off version of Spiderland. I think this is a good thing.
