Why do all their photos have so many dislikes? This is the first time I’ve seen a photo where upvotes outnumber dislikes by only 7 votes.

I feel like Moonspell, Rotting Christ, Tiamat, and these guys all just got into a room and blasted Elizium by Fields of the Nephilim and were like: "Lets make a few albums that sound like this". That was a long time ago but listening to Science they have songs and lead guitar work very reminiscent of them.

Everything past Communion is peepee poopoo, and even Communion was a step down. Nearly every song on their prior albums is a banger.

Weird passive aggressive way to call someone a hipster. The reality is all bands with few exceptions go down in quality eventually, maybe you'd understand that if you had standards.

In all honesty, all albums were pretty different, even though they follow similar route - so I wouldn't call it "Rotting Christ syndrome", where this is way more evident. But I guess me being huge SF fan make it easier to distinguish subtleties, which are not enough for others.

New album slays! Coming storm is already amongst the best tracks they ever released.

I agree with this statement partly. I mean, they were just extremely original back then - and their music had that feeling of melancholic death metal. Kinda unusual, and to some extent, I'd say I (still) never found any other band playing in that vein. Although... their newer material is still absolutely devastating. I would feel like calling it "worse" would be just injustice, since they are still one of the kind band, and "precious songs per album" ratio is almost untouched. It also serves different purpose, since pompous sound is better for times when you want to crush your life into something instead of having nostalgic moments starring at the sky. I'm rather more melancholic person, so I prefer older SF, but I appreciate all the times with heavier incarnation, being almost as important. Anyway, of course, each for their own. If you know any bands at least somehow close to old SF, I'd be really happy for any such recommendations.

their old albums have such a unique sound, I can't really say much in the way of anyone else being like them. maybe Catacomb from France but nothing else really comes to mind
