    Aarschot, Vlaams-Brabant, Flanders, Belgium

Second Base is a ferocious punk-rock foursome hailing from Aarschot, Belgium. They've been in the business of singing and playing their hearts out for about five years now, which is the equivalent of approximately 300 shows – including multiple tours to Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, the south of France, and the U.K.

The best description of their music I can give is melodic and emotional punkrock. Now, don't expect some tight-tshirt-wearing metrosexuals using their high pitched voices to either sing or scream about that girl that didn't accept them on myspace. Second Base is a much needed refreshment from those bands, combining the technicality of Belvedere with the harshness of NOFX and the deeper thoughts of Rival Schools. When they play, you can just tell they're for real.

The band had the honour to support some great bands in Belgium (amongst others Strike Anywhere, Useless I.D., The Loved Ones, Ignite, Belvedere, Satanic Surfers, Less Than Jake, Guttermouth,…) and to play some of the biggest stages to be seen in Belgium, including the prestigious Maanrock where they did their thing in front of 15.000 people. Suffice to say, they enjoyed every second of their punk-rock lives so far.

Second Base started out in 2003, recording a demo only a few weeks after the first rehearsals. It had its flaws, but 250 copies sold out fairly quick. 2004 came with a Split release on the Belgian Burned Star Records – the other band on the record being Old Fashion Heroes, whose bassist Sam would join Second Base in 2007 after the demise of the former band. 2006 brought the band's debut full-length album: The Risk To Lose It All, released on Burned Star Records and distributed by Belgium's finest, Funtime Records. Both the split-cd and full-length are now sold out.

In October 2007, the trio released an E.P. titled Recover with their newly recruited bassist Sam on Kickass/Burned Star Records. The band went all the way to Portugal to record with Miguel Marquez, from Easyway fame. 2010 marked the release of their second full-length album Manifesto, which once again marked a musical milestone. Shortly after the release, guitarist Fred (ex-Facefirst) joined Second Base. As a foursome, the band will keep on giving both the audience and the songs the passionate live treatment they deserve…
