Q enlists fellow Crip, and longtime friend, Vince Staples, for a bass-heavy gangster ballad that paints a picture of what life was like growing up in their hoods (which weren’t too far from each other). They collaborated in 2013 releasing “Back Sellin' Crack”.
Q and Vince deliver ultra-violent lyrics with aggressive inflections. Q and Vince have sold drugs and they detail the violence associated with the job.
Sounwave incorporates quick hi-hats reminiscent of trap beats over a mysterious instrumental. Doing so allows for the violent lyrics (which are prevalent in trap songs) to compliment the slow, chant-like hook.
