Samuil Evgenyevich Feinberg (Russian: Самуил Евгеньевич Фейнберг) (May 26, 1890 in Odessa – October 22, 1962 in Moscow) was a Russian composer and pianist. Raised in Moscow, he entered the Moscow Conservatory and studied under Alexander Goldenweiser. He is most remembered today for his complete recording of Bach's Well Tempered Klavier and many transcriptions. He was awarded the State Stalin Prize in arts in 1946. Feinberg also composed a dozen piano sonatas as well as fantasias and other works for his instrument, which have undeservedly been for the most part neglected in the standard repertoire.
