“Is There Something In The Movies?” discusses Samia’s disillusionment with the entertainment industry, especially in reference to the death of actress Brittany Murphy.

In February 2020, a video posted by Caleb Hinz (Normal Parents) showed Samia colouring in an album checklist, featuring a song titled “Movies.”

A collection of photos featuring Samia, her bandmates, Caleb, and members of Hippo Campus in the studio were posted to her Instagram in December 2019, with the caption:

"i’ll do the movie"

On April 27, Samia announced that the track would be released that week, on April 29.

"It’s a song about heartbreak and disenchantment with the entertainment industry I felt betrayed by someone honoring that fantasy over my love. Glorifying the idea of legacy or life as a means to an end makes me really sad, especially when it comes to people dying young."

– Samia for Pitchfork
