I remember how each EP seemed to get better and better, a real improvement on the last. Then the album came out and they seemed to lose something just like that...

I don't know, i think their guitars were a lot more heavier that some bands around at the time (I hated most so-called britpop bands-radiohead excepted) and their melodies and sound were definitely less orthodox compared to the other bands they were lumped in with. Maybe too original and not steeped in endless boring recycled beatles/stones/kinks riffs, like most of UK "indie" scene at the time. Good on them!

Totally agree with all the shouts, great band, witty, intelligent and good pop music. I think they might have been too subtle (sounding) to really break through. Pretty lead lady too, a mystery why they didnt take off. Other people's loss though, not ours!

The fact that they never became a popular band (even in the indie circles) is one of the world’s true mysteries to me. Perhaps I am exaggerating, but hey, they wrote a many clever songs, had a beautiful frontwoman with an amazing talent of songwriting and singing. How could they possibly be that underrated? Is it because it’s a men’s world, or am I missing out anything?

Definitely one of the better Britpop acts I'd say , Granite Statue is quite a decent song

They came out bang in the middle of Brit Pop, and that's when I picked up their CDs. I think that's an accurate tag.

"Then I remember... She's your daddy's wife!" Great band, totally underrated. Their EP collection "Singles Bar" is excellent! No idea why it's tagged Britpop though, nothing to do with that so-called genre, musically, at least. A thousand miles away from Blur (thank god).

These guys were definitely cruelly overlooked, they deserved success. Drink Me is a pop masterpiece.
