Biography

Sakîna Têyna is a singer and journalist, living in Austria

Sakina was born in 1973 in Northwest-. She drop out her studies of health, to devote herself to journalism. In the course of their political and cultural activities, she joined the association "Navenda Çanda Mezopotamya" (Turkish "Kültür Merkezi Mezopotamya" / English "Cultural Center Mesopotamia") which was very significant for so many other Kurdish bands in Turkey. Sakina was a friend of in battle resistance fallen female fighter Beritan.

Like other Kurdish artists and journalists, Sakina was due to their article, in which she wrote about the Kurdish question, and the Kurdish songs she sang, political repressed by the Turkish state. Because of her impending persecution and high risk going to jail she fled in 2006 from Turkey and came as a political refugee to , where she presented an application for asylum. Four of her brothers live in Germany.

Sakina currently lives in , and is very active as a singer and orginazer in music business. She also writes as a columnist in women's newspaper "Newaya Jin" and the daily newspaper "Özgur Politika Yeniden" and plays in theater performances.
