First and foremost S.M.A. is not just a band consisted of 2 MCs & 1 Dj, but far more than that they are a group of "friends", who represent Hip-Hop as a culture and as a movement the way they lived it. The story goes somewhere in 1997 in Thessaloniki, when Dj Space(Thanos), having already since '96 started experimenting with producing electronic music and Djing, and Disastah (Giannis) created the first form of this group and 'recorded' their first song (whose concept still exists until today obviously improved of course). The name of the group after some changes ended out to be XLNZ (Xtra Large Noise Zone). In 1998 Alchimistis (Stathis) has helped XLNZ organize a small live performance, added his voice and lyrics to the tracks of that time and finally ended up to join the group. That was the time when they started their essential steps in the scene together with Fatal Strike, another group of that time which Dj Space has already been collaborating with. The highlight of that moment was the Municipality of Pylaia Festival (Thessaloniki) at 2000. Stepping to the end of the year 2000 the already famous since '94 graffiti crew S.M.A., contacted the two groups (XLNZ, Fatal Strike) in order to rebuild the crew having more and new writers and adding b-boys MC's and Dj's under the same name. The triad joined the lead MC of Fatal Strike: Escape (Marios), adding also his skills in producing and rhyming. A period started with continuous participation in live performances (some of them worthy remembered moments of Thessaloniki's Hip-Hop) and the constant support from the whole crew as a multitask entity under the name Street Magic Art. At summer 2002 was when the first problems appeared: writers and b-boys already started leaving the crew, Escape abandoned the group in virtue of having alternative ideas about the music produced by the group(despite that,S.M.A. still collaborate with Escape in many areas) and Alchimistis left Greece and moved to Germany for about 2 years due to the demands of his studies. The last one was a factor that hardened recordings a lot and almost froze out the live performances. But that was not enough to intimidate the group. Some tracks were produced during that time, but with Alchimistis's definitive return in 2004 radical changes had taken place. At the end of 2007 SMA released their major label debut album "To Kimilio" through Grand Royal Productions and EMI Music. At the end of the same year was also released "Manifesto", the first EP of "Filiki Eteria" (The Friendly Society), the new greek super-group created in 2007 consisting of SIfu VERSUS, SMA, Adamantas, Sparky T, Diveno & ISO XL.
