i believe tellier himself said it was drumming as songwriting, which is exactly right...he takes a beautiful sketch and turns it into one of the ballads of the century. and i definitely recall him saying allen only heard the song once, at the studio on the date of the session...did one take ("maybe two if you ask politely") and that's what we hear. incredible
