Biography
Rosalía León Oviedo, born in Mexico City on July 14, singer-songwriter and guitarist dedicated to folkloric rhythms. She is the founder and leader of the guitar project “Gliese 229”, a concept that comprehends an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar, as well as her voice to revisit renowned songs of the Traditional Mexican music and to contribute with new compositions of her authorship to the genre.
She has taken singing, guitar and guitar crafting instruction, as well as pan flute and crystal flute classes. She studied techniques of South American Rhythmic Guitar with Ciro Hurtado and Ruben Izquierdo; music composition with Daniel Barjau; and luthiery at the Liceo Paracho Johrengua in Mexico City since 2017.
In August 2018 she recorded a special version of a song of her autorship “Casi Creo que Aquí te Quedas” along to the singer Eugenia León and guitarist Sergio Vallín. Theo also shot the vídeo if this theme which is an invitation to Mexico and which is based on the projection of representative images of the culture of their country.
On September 13, 2018, she made her solo debut un Havana, Cuba performing at Teatro del Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, which featured the guest performances of singers Haydeé Milanés and Athanai, as well as the collaboration on the electric guitars by César Huesca, Raúl Verdecia and Dayron Ortiz.
