I wonder if Fields of Mildew is also side project of them, the singer sounds similar.

Not even remotely the biggest post-punk fan, but I'm very impressed by these guys

"Pretty Life" is such a great song. The whole album is beautiful, this band has to get more attention!

Great band, though I disagree with the "Post-Punk/Deathrock/Gothic Rock" labels associated with this band. In my humble opinion, this has much more in common with bands like Katatonia, The Devil's Blood, The Loveless etc. Regardless, this is some great and very emotionally heavy stuff. Definitely looking forward to hearing more music from them in the future !

Some of the melodic leads in Rope Sect's music really have more of a Doom Metal meets Depressive Rock feel for me, which is why I mentioned Katatonia . Interesting that you would mention Pink Turns Blue... which material of theirs does Rope Sect bring to mind for you ? I am a big fan of PTB, and I can honestly say that they have not come to mind for me while listening to Rope Sect .

I'm still fairly new to Pink Turns Blue, but I dived into them because I read an interview with Rope Sect where they said this was an inspiration for the band. From what I've heard from Pink Turns Blue, I see some similarities in the harsher sound

there are hints to older Katatonia circa "Discouraged Ones" mostly in guitarwork and yes there is even a The Devil's Blood type of pushing rock scheme in 1-2 songs in the second part of the album

They are more similar to bands like ved buens ende or portraits of past then anything "deathrock"

i agree that they're not really deathrock at all, but they do remind me of heavier gothic rock like fields of the nephilim.

It took some time to new bands incorporate the Beastmilk/Grave Pleasures influence, and Rope Sect did it perfectly.
