I absolutely love this album, start to finish. ID has its own personality within an already varied and interesting catalog.

I think that I don't like it. The new album is like "let's play and see what will happen" - you can hear Mariusz step aside from composing. ADHD was built similarly, but ID is total chaos. Those tracks don't drift anywhere. As for now, I like only "Friend or Foe?" and "I'm Done With You". Riverside, please never record a song in "Self-Aware" style. The only thing I like it's at the end of the record so I don't need to switch songs.

Are you familiar with Rush? Self-Aware has big Vital Signs vibes (also the closing track on its respective album). I think it's a great track, personally, so I disagree with your message to Riverside. 😄

Expecially "Friend or Foe?" is nothing I want to here from bands like Riverside - most provocative start of the album the band could choose, chapeau ;) It is nice to try something different but than you have to do it like Pain of Salvation with Disco Queen.

@Mistermasyl, ID.Entity is a very meticulously thought-out offering. Even if Mariusz didn't participate in the compositions much he would obviously not have let the album take whatever shape the principal composers would've wanted either; he is after all an integral part of Riverside. Instead of being chaotic, the new album is very controlled and serious. It's not a display of instrumentation but a statement of concern for what the modern society is getting itself into, lyrically. Self-Aware is an awesome song, plain and simple. @tomplifier, If you feel the opening song is provocative then I guess the band has done exactly what it wanted to. Truth is most of the times bitter and hard to accept if it's not something you have realised yourself already. Also, what else do you expect from the greatest of bands/ artists? Shaking things up and trying to send a hard-hitting message through music/ art is what they're after. It just gets a little personal with what that song sings that's all.

A good album, but I really feel Piotr's absence on the guitars. Their new sound is much more sawtooth-shaped-keyboard-driven and the guitar is demoted to a more background role, except for a few sporadic riffs. It's not a bad sound, don't get me wrong, but Piotr's creativity IMHO was really the added value to the sound of the band.

That's true. Piotr had a gift, he is irreplaceable. By the way - good observations with the guitar role on the album.

I feel the same. Especially on "The Place Where I Belong". I would have loved to hear a powerful solo at the end.

I mean, a guitarist like Piotr will always be missed and we can't expect them to just write music with leads and solos the way Piotr played. Maciej is a great player but I don't think he even wants to help write music like Piotr did. It's sad but this is their new direction. I still love it!
