@Ninja1980 Really? There are groups must worse than Americans that 'kill those with different beliefs.' Radical Muslim Terrorists perhaps? Nazis, ring a bell? We are more likely to preach tolerance and acceptance yet ignore them in reality. Any war we go out to is usually in response to ppl killing others unjustly. (Then again, there's hardly any way to kill 'justly') That being said, War is hell whatever the reason like yoloej said.

Yeah cuz thats totally how all Americans feel about our foreign policy. The existence of this band is evidence to the contrary. If we're guilty of anything it's apathy and indecisiveness.

Great song... but damn you Americans, why do you feel the need to kill everybody who has different beliefs than you? Even if you don't want to and give into the peer pressure... The land of the Free indeed.

What a broad widely inaccurate generalization. Granted this was 10 years ago so maybe your view has rationalized. 🤔

yoloej no yr off he is making a point about the hypocrisy of the military how someone goes off does this does that and sometimes ends up doing horrible things to another person just because their orders think hard what he means by "IS THAT WHAT THEY SEE"!

Awesome song!! What a shame there are so many heros of war that never get even half the recognition they deserve. So very few are even called heros, but all that have been there (no matter where or exactly why) will be heros in my mind and I will recognize them as such. It is the least we all can do considering what they have done for us.

Breaks the energy of an otherwise awesome album. These acoustic songs are killing rock and roll.

It's a beautiful song, and is true to a degree, but I don't like it implying that about all soldiers who fought. I agree we shouldn't respect someone just because of a medal, but for what they've done. But a lot of soldiers really have done something great for this country, and are the reson Rise Against has the freedom to make this song in the first place.

And indeed it tells a story of peril. Perilous stories make good songs don't you agree?

this is really poignant and different to other anti-war songs. instead of saying stop the war and all, they give the perspective of a soldier who's signed a contract, basically to kill and torture people, without realising he's just made himself a puppet for the corrupt western capitalist state. i don't agree with any kind of war, and i don't like seeing anyone in army uniform. but at the same time i feel pity for them. they're brainwashed into giving their lives for a violent and unresolvable conflict. and the bit at the end where he's reminiscing of when his dad suggested him to join, thinking how naive he was then. so many wasted lives, and what for?
