it's such a strange and pleasant feeling to vividly remember me not being able to get past the first minute of this song and now, over a year later, revisiting it and finding it to be one of my favorites in the genre. something similar happened to other songs but not as strongly as this one, maybe because i'm in an unusually great mood

That's interesting. It's similar for me. I love Nowhere so much that it was so difficult to have appreciation for this album in the same way. I'm so glad I revisited it because the this song especially has a phenomenal opening.

If we need a song to represent shoegaze and be the microcosm for the whole genre, this should be it. With shades of dream pop, britpop, noise rock and good old shoegaze, this song has all the familial styles.

I wasn't terribly familiar with this song, but when I heard it playing in the background in The Doom Generation, I knew it was my beloved Ride. <3

By the by, never really understood how this fitted into the 'shoegazing' category - this is a proper leap-around, indie-night-at-the-Union crackerjack!

Wow, after hearing the rest of this track. I'm speechless. I really want to check out the rest of their first two albums now!
