Biography
RESPITO is an alternative Rock/Post Grunge/New Indorock band from Jakarta, Indonesia.They are Pheps - , Daff - , Ricky - , and Chandra - . RESPITO, the word itself derives from the ancient Javanese language meaning Nirvana or Heaven, which is the final destination for those with pure hearts and goodness in their souls. Heaven in their opinion is the ultimate ideal goal of their life's purpose. Literally, it is a place for perfecting the music they have created.They hope that RESPITO existence and works will be something as worthy as Heaven.
Their songs consist of of an easy listening heavy modern rock sound,with catchy lyrics with a metaphorical twist which speak of social criticism. At the end of 2009 RESPITO released their first album entitled "Jalan Menuju Surga", the english translation is "The Road to Heaven", it consisted of nine tracks with the single "Angel's Cry". Their singles have been played on radio stations throughout Indonesia .
In recent years RESPITO grew in popularity in Indonesia's "grunge" scene. They have traveled to many cities throughout the country from Jakarta, Tangerang, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Malang, Semarang,Surabaya to Bali with a solid performance schedule.
Since they began their career in 2001 they have produced one complete album, two E.P's ("self titled" and "100%nekadz") one single (A.D.I.K.S.I) and five compilation albums.
In 2009 they performed at the largest rock event in Indonesia namely the Java-Rocking Land, together with other well known bands from Indonesia as well as International acts such as Navicula,GIGI,Netral,Slank,Melee,Vertical Herison,Mew, and Mr.Big. In June 2010 they toured South East Asia, including the Singapore Street Festival and the RedAMP AirAsia Redtix Asean's Best Band Festival in Malaysia.
Their music so interesting because its a rock music consists of a simple and catchy, wrapped with modern sound and distinctive classic rock's guitar melodies. And absolutelly combined with metaforical lyrics and talk about social themes that are all around us. This is evidenced by the tight schedule of gigs and their singles were in the big diradio in Java and Bali and occupied the highest chart in independent music scene. And do not stop there, because until now they've released one full album, two mini-albums and four compilation albums (you can see at http://respitonekad.com) and a hundreds of hours playing in Java and Bali.
RESPITO hope their work can be accepted by music lovers all over Indonesia, and maybe there is some hope that the music and lyrics from RESPITO song can bring a change, moral enlightenment and united spirit of this beloved world.
