Biography
Renaud Paravel is primarily a graphic artist and cartoonist. His relationship with culture is pretty unique : he only read three books in his whole life. And the word "singer" does not really suits him, it is rather a "teller". His musical arrangements are often call the collage, the samples, mixing sounds electronic acoustic sounds. All styles are mixed: electronica samples, rhythmic funk, rap, trip-hop, Foley concrete. His texts, read, recited, or chanted, put this artist in line with the "Gainsbourian singers" (Serge Gainsbourg). His lyrics talk of poetry, imagination, frustration, sex, small things, so raw, often tinged of cynical humour in the second degree, and self-derision.
He produced the singer Cazoul, a peasant from Béarn (South West France) 64 years who sings remakes of Alain Bashung, Francis Cabrel, Renaud, Johnny Hallyday or Pascal Obispo.
Renaud Paravel est tout d'abord un artiste graphique et dessinateur de BD. Son rapport à la culture est particulier ; il n'a lu que trois livres dans sa vie. Et le mot " chanteur " ne lui sied pas vraiment, il est plutôt "diseur". Ses arrangements musicaux font souvent appel au collage, aux samples , mélangeant des sons électroniques à des sons acoustiques. Tous les styles s'y retrouvent : samples electro , rythmiques funk , rap , trip-hop , bruitages concrets. Ses textes, lus, récités, ou scandés, inscrivent cet artiste dans la lignée des chanteurs gainsbouriens. Ses textes parlent de poésie, d'imagination, de frustrations, de sexe, de petites choses, de manière crue, souvent teinté d' humour cynique , au second degré, et d'auto-dérision.
Il a produit le chanteur Cazoul , paysan béarnais de 64 ans faisant des reprises d' Alain Bashung , de Francis Cabrel , Renaud , Johnny Hallyday ou Pascal Obispo.
