does anyone know any other albums or artists with a similar sound? i love bssm so much but i haven't found any music that matches its unique sound, even in rhcp's discography, and i'm so desperate for more of this style T^T

after listening to this album for about over 2 months this album has changed i listen to music it sounds like johns guitar and fleas bass are talking to each other just one lovely conversation, this album is a masterpiece and rhcp doomed themselves releasing such a good album so early in their career.

So is everything on "Californication". The only exception is its horrendous brickwall production by Rick Rubin.

i agree californication is good the whole way through i just think the production brings it down massively, this is a personal issue here but the first like 4 tracks can kinda be hard for me to get through cause ive heard thme so many times, its not that i hate the songs i just got tired of them

@neininchnails made a legit opinion, I can confirm that "Freaky Styley" is best. After Slovak death they started to make too long albums with fillers (and for mainstream audience), BSSM is already like that but have decent songs what makes it theirs last fully interesting LP for me. RHCP started with LP in 1984, stopped to be interesting in 1994 and died in 2004 in Hyde Park.

My late dad loved RHCP. I grew up to them in the 90's, especially this one. I always did like this album myself, but my personally preferred RHCP was always the 80's ultra-funky stuff, particularly Mother's Milk. With age however, and since my dad passed (we played some of this and Motörhead at his funeral), this album hits home in a whole nother way. Nowadays this is my fave. Every time I listen to to it, it's like my dad is there with me again. Powerful music.

This constantly battles it out with Californication as my favorite from them. I think this edges it out slightly though.
