Listening to this after analyzing Wilfred Owen's Dulce et Decorum Est is life-changing. This song is about war. The sounds in the beginning is the feeling of blood entering your lungs and frothing along with the chlorine gas. The way it's reversed even as it goes forward represents the PTSD from war. The lyrics matches perfectly with the theme. Examples: "While you make pretty speeches, I'm being cut to shreds" - the naive glorification of war as the soldiers die in absolute pain. "You feed me to the lions, a delicate balance" - Thrown into war, balanced sins - soldiers killing and nations starting the war. "My body is floating down the muddy river" - Corpses floating through the trudges of war-barren land. "I'm living in cloud cuckoo land" - The innocent foolish young soldiers fooled into believing War is heroism when it's not. 'Like Spinning Plates' probably represents the never ending cycle of war spinning constantly, slicing everything through its way. So Incredible.

I remember in October and November 2020 there were very hard times for me. Since September I was unemployed, at the beginning of October I barely made both ends meet. And then I found a job application which happens to be my current job now. But back then in October I was very nervous and doubting. I didn't know is it a good job, will they pay me or not, because I was a trainee. There were night shifts. And I remember a 12th November night shift, I am sitting late at night staring at the monitor screen, didn't even realizing what will be there for me, will I stay in the big city or I will have to get back to my native town. And on top of it this song pops out in my shuffle. It was quite an experience I should say. The biggest hopelessness I've ever felt.

When I wrote this I was ok, my life was more or less stable. Well I live in Russia and it was not comfortable to live here since the end of february. I hope you know why. And in the middle of the last week they announced this so called partial mobilization. They said that only people who served will be called, but it turned out that they called the number 300 000, and they don't even sorting out who are they calling. So basically the whole male population in Russia 18 - 65 y.o. is in the danger zone if I can say so. Well I know this fear is nothing comparing with all the terror which happens in Ukraine. But I never was the one who supported this thing. And soon there will be a possibility of choosing me between an army or a prison. So I guess I'm not OK after all. Thank you for asking.

Like Spinning Plates and Pulk/Revolving Doors are my favorite kids from the Amnesiac-class. They're the weirdest kiddo's, the ones you can barely understand, because they're on a different level than the rest. Not necessarily better, but different. Pulk is the heedless, mysterious, robotic. Spinning Plates is the emotional, overt, intelligent. But both are the most crazy-minded, creative and extaordinary.

Do I love this? Do I hate this? I really don't know, what I do know is its a work of genius.

Love this tune. Equally interesting in its studio and live versions. Barely sounds like the same song but it works wonderfully both ways.

A high five to the guy on the live version who recognises it first, yells its name and makes the rest of the crowd notice and cheer. It makes that recording really special, and even if you know how they play it live it always reminds you how good that version is.
