Such a beautiful and evocative album. The only song here I'm not too sold on is Feral, everything else ranges from good to some of the best material they've ever released.

It's been about 12 years since it was released, it's still growing on me. I just know that one day it will click with me, just like it happened with Moon, the Bends, Kid A or OK Computer. The cover of TKOL still sucks hard, though.

I've really just started getting into Radiohead lately and in my first impression, I like this one.

Sonically, this record is something I found myself really relating to as a musician. I'll have phases where I'll sit down with the guitar or at my piano and repetitiously try to say something new, something interesting and exciting, yet all that seems to come out is a frustrated regurgitation of exhausted idioms and rusted-out phrases, over and over again. I find that I just can't hack my own instrument any more -- Play an instrument for long enough and you'll find yourself tediously bumping into this creative brick wall. The King Of Limbs' instrumentation feels like Radiohead got that very sound and feeling of frustration and repetition, and documented it rather than necessarily trying to push through it or overcome it. I love the finicky, uneven loops of percussion, the jittery pastiche of glitchy, unresolving samples, the nervous and uncomfortable guitar riffs begging to be excited. This sonic headspace feels too familiar to me.

I always assume that if I like a thing and another person doesn't like a thing, that they are an idiot. It just makes life simpler.

It's a good album but imagine waiting 3 and a half years (seemed a long time back then lol) for them to follow up In Rainbows and they drop an 8 track, relatively minimal sounding 37 minute record. Thankfully they also released The Butcher/Supercollider and Daily Mail/Staircase singles not long after so it seemed a bit less like we were feeding off scraps as Radiohead fans but it still seemed underwhelming that we didn't get a epic classic. Also, people had been waiting well over a decade for Radiohead to fall off so when they did release an album that wasn't universally acclaimed as genius there were always going to be plenty of fans who went along with the narrative because they didn't want to be seen as uncool.

this album was a lot more personal to the members of the band, especially thom yorke, than in rainbows. this is probably my favourite album by them, aside from kid a and amnesiac, for that exact personal feeling... but yeah even i have to admit i see why people would see this as underwhelming compared to its predecessor. as i said, i like this more... but thats cuz im fucking weird lol

I... technically was (RIP old last.fm account), but somehow managed to miss the apparent negative consensus online, lol. One of my acquaintances thought it was too short, anti-climatic, and "baiting fans with a non-existent second part" - but, I didn't agree with them and happily listened to it on repeat for much of 2011-12. It's the perfect springtime album.

Yeah, I'm probably giving too much weight to the average rating and comments on RYM. The professional reviews and old comments on here look like they were mid-favourable!
