Pretty cool album. Burn The Witch was my first intro to Queens as a teen so I'll always have respect for this one, even if I've historically not revisited it much. My attention's always waned a bit after I Never Came, and I think that's purely because Someone's In The Wolf is such a climax that it steals the thunder of everything after it until Long Slow Goodbye. A short while back I thought about re-ordering the back half, and I think I've settled on Someone's In The Wolf > Broken Box > The Blood Is Love > Long Slow Goodbye as a preferred running order. Skin On Skin is done better by other songs within their discog and I've never been keen on it, and Killer Scene is a great song, but I don't feel like it really fits on Lullabies, though I'm equally unsure of which Queens album it *would* otherwise fit on. God knows what I woulda thought about it if Fun Machine would'nt've been lost, or they also included the re-recorded versions of Like A Drug and Infinity, but hey.

From the moment you said, "Why haven't you kissed me yet?" I knew I'd wipe that paint from your lips I stare the lids off your eyes, goin' down on your dirty mind And end up between you hips Handfuls of sweat tangled hair, anytime, anywhere I wanna lick you too much, baby I just play all alone, whispering for your moan Forced to crawl down this line, just to touch I can get in I can't get out I can get in I can't get out I'm just sweating my sheets, I hate to see you leave But I love to watch you go, baby Twisted secret lives, the way you bat your eyes Givin' head, givin' head Watch you come from above, I'm so needy for love I'm desperate, greedy in slavery I sneak around from behind, I got a one track mind We got a skin on skin thing, baby I wanna lick you too much, I wanna lick you too much I hear you comin', oh ah, baby I wanna lick you too much, I wanna lick you too much I hear you comin', oh ah

Definitely was a big change from the style of SftD and with the departure of Nick. Era Vulgaris did retain some of the sound/style of this one, only for the band to change their sound again on LC. Definitely still one of their best albums for sure.

Well, that's the point where they lost me. Mostly a matter of personnal taste, I suppose.

"Everybody Knows That You Are Insane", "Little Sister", "In My Head", "I Never Came" are fuckin good. This album definitely deserves some respect.

This is, in my opinion, their best album. It has everything: from sort of popular rock songs (basically every song from "Everybody knows that you're insane" to "Little Sister"), more slow, melancholic songs (like "Lullaby", "I Never Came" and the last two songs), real stoner anthems (like "Someone's In The Wolf" and "The Blood Is Love"), pretty crazy and fun rock songs typical for QOTSA (like "Skin on Skin" and "Broken Box"), up to short, catching rock songs (like "Medication") ... What else do you need?

It's a toss-up between Rated R and Lullabies to Paralyze. This is so fucking good.

Does anybody else just not like the cover art for this album? Is it supposed to be a tribute to the shitty art that appeared on some '70s rock albums? [2]

This and Rated R just flow so perfectly, two of the best rock albums, of any and all subgenres!

Sometimes I feel this is their best release to the date. But I'm still dubious about it.
