Biography

A master teacher and natural healer, Frank Natale has been a prominent figure in alternative education for over thirty years. He was known as a charismatic and provocative teacher who had the capacity to draw from the complex realities of psychology, spirituality, shamanism and music and combine the essence of those in a powerful way.

Early on in life, still a young man, he had the extraordinary chance to meet and work with some of the key pioneers of the human potential movement, which was the beginning of humanistic psychology. He was on stage with Abraham Maslow, founder of Psychodrama, spent time in the hot tubs of Big Sur, Esalen with Fritz Perls (founder of Gestaltherapy) and was one of the first encounter-therapists, trained by Chuck Dederick (founder of the Encounter Movement). As co-founder and clinical director of Phoenix-House, the first drug free therapeutic-community in New York, he gained international reputation. For many years he was a close disciple of Baba Muktananda.

His own Institute, The Natale Institute (TNI), founded in Houston Texas in 1982, had representations in all five continents at its high time. From 1987-1997 Natales main focus was his presence in Europe, especially in Germany, Italy and France. As Professor Trance Frank Natale produced a number of internationally successful Trance Dance CDs and books. He spent the last years of his life in the US and in Hawaii. The intense body of work within TNI entailed the following subject areas:

Life Skills, teaching the basic skills of a self-determined and authentic life
Skills for the New Age and Spirit Lives
Trainings and seminars focusing on metaphysical qualities of life
Shamanic and energy work
The ONE Experience, a process of initiation.

The last years of his work were dedicated to a large extent towards the study of extraordinary states of consciousness. Many were in favour of his teachings, including the usage of natural consciousness-expanding substances, at the TNI-Institute in Amsterdam, Crystal Palace. However he was not supported by governmental organizations.

Through his charisma and genius and his straight forward and often uncompromising way of pointing out delicate issues, he inspired, encouraged and thrilled thousands of people all over the world. As a rebel of the soul he never wanted to be nice and convenient - and he wasn't.

Committed to dance movement as a healing force, Frank, with his band 'Professor Trance', has produced a body of trance dance music including the best selling CD 'Shaman's Breath' on Island Records, the double CD 'Medicine Trance' and their latest CD 'Rites of Passage'. Publishing credits for Frank Natale include the books 'Trance Dance - The Dance of Life' from Element Books and 'Mastering Alive Relationships'.

He was a great and gifted teacher, still sending signs of encouragement in the creation of his conscious death at the day of Festival of light, Summer Solstice. Frank indicated that even death, the last great passage and challenge in life, is nothing but a transition into another dimension: No beginning, no end, only transformation.

Frank Natale, a unique teacher and guide in the field of human growth and development in the USA, Europe and in many other parts of the world for more than 30 years, began his last great journey on his 61st birthday. He left his body on June 21st 2002.
