Biography
Potyguara Bardo is a Brazilian singer, actress and drag queen. She is one of the rising names in the MPB and LGBTQI+ music scene, mixing chill music, house, reggae, lambada and Brazilian funk. Her debut album, “Simulacre”, features the hits Oasis, Você Não Existe and Karamba (feat. Kaya Conky). Potyguara is widely known for her iconic look, a purple wig and elf ears, that matches with her drag persona as a mystical and holistic creature. Her name comes from the gentile of her home state, Rio Grande do Norte, which is potiguar, because it influences her music very much; and Bardo, comes from the Bardo Thodol, the Tibetan book of the dead ones, because he (out of drag, José Aquilino) had an ego death experience right before start doing drag and felt her art needed to speak about this. Very connected and proud of her origins, Bardo is one of the most politized drag queens in the country.
