Reaching an impressive rank of fifth on the U.K singles chart, The second released single off of the album "Without You I'm Nothing", "You Don't Care About Us" is "directed towards me (Brian Molko) , written from the point of view of someone I used to be in a relationship with" Frontman Brian Molko told NME in 1998 at the time of it's release.

The music video for the track features the band once again under water, mimicking the video for the song "36 Degrees" from their album prior, being thrown into aquarium tanks as 'Shark food'. Though an answer from the songwriter himself, Speculation still surrounds the meaning of the track, some believing the track could be about either the music industry, or the journalists they've encountered.

The single CD features the songs "You Don't Care About Us", T.Rex cover "20th Century Boy" which can also be found on the "Covers" album from 2003 and "Ion" which can be found on the "Without You I'm Nothing : B sides" album.

BBC Music exclaimed that "You Don't Care About Us" is "A track that's propelled by an unstoppable, elastic bass line and that flips manically between wise, sighing despair and spitting adolescent rage". Sometimes introduced by Molko stating “Seems to me that the time to teeny-bop is upon us" , BBC Music details that it is "A song which feels like it had no choice but to be written and which is one of the rawest, most brilliant singles of the last decade".

"You Don't Care About Us" was played throughout the 'Without You I'm Nothing' tour and into the early stages of the 'Black Market Music tour', Though it has not been performed live since 2001.
