Pinn Panelle is an alternative/electronic rock band from Boston, Massachusetts. The original lineup consisted of Derek Song (vocals, bluetooth-modified guitar), Justin Conway (drums, samples), Jonah Wei-Haas (keys), and Nathan Navarro (bass guitar). They released their self-titled debut full-length album on November 22, 2010, through their website www.pinnpanelle.com both digitally and physically, as well as through iTunes.
Pinn Panelle announced on March 7, 2013 that both Jonah Wei-Haas and Nathan Navarro had left the band. Their second album Ghosts & Liars was released March 15, 2013.
Take digibeats, huge and expansive sounds, epic strings, and snarling distorted synths that cut the listener to shreds, and combine it with a full Rock outfit of innovative musicians-turned-electronic sound designers; and you get Pinn Panelle on their self-titled, professional debut album. Give up the notion that this is the next unoriginal, trendy new band. People who’ve heard their songs take awhile putting a finger on what seems familiar, mentioning some of today’s most groundbreaking and ground-shaking acts like Muse, 30 Seconds to Mars, Thrice, Mutemath, and The Dear Hunter. And yet, they weave in elements of dubstep, techno, electronica, and classical in the most mind-blowingly smooth and appropriate of ways. Utilizing creative promotion through social networking and developing personal relationships with its fans, Pinn Panelle and its dedicated supporters raised $1600 for the production of the album that’s taken years to finish. However, a feat like this would never have been possible if the members of the band hadn’t emphasized their belief that writing music is a privilege and the best way to show appreciation for those they care about. With a genuine approach to their art, a powerful sound, bluetooth-modified guitars, and an intense, inventive live show, Pinn Panelle intends to entrance audiences whole, and no less.
