The song is without a doubt a masterpiece, but it’d be a lot better if it didn’t have the clocks blasting in the beginning.

Last week I saw Gov't Mule on their Dark Side of the Mule tour. Warren Haynes is such a brilliant singer/guitarist of his own right and legacy going on his fifth decade in the business. I was honored and touched to see his band play this song. With all the lights going off and the band behind him soaring I couldn’t help at one point hearing him channel Duane Allman while playing the solo. Their abilities at improvisation and groove allowed them to stretch a song like this a couple minutes for guitar playing that pays more tribute to the art form itself than just this song. It was almost as good as seeing Gilmour playing it himself which I’m honored to say I did as well,

something is so haunting about this song. it's a reminder that our time is limited, and we cannot sit passively just waiting for life to come to us. we have to take hold of our lives and spend our time making the most of what we have before us. beautiful and terrifying all at once

"and you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking" feels like you're in the heart of a coming-of-age movie and you're just faced with the most intense moments of your life and... it's just one of my top 10 favorite moments in 20th century popular music
