They were still so good back then, young and creative. Their last great album, before they settled into a more ‘mature rock’ sound.

Last Exit, Spin the Black Circle, Not for You, Tremor Christ, Whipping, Corduroy, Satan's Bed, and Immortality... This album is filled to the tits with absolute grunge classics. I was 9 when this album came out, and the digibook was one of the first CDs I ever bought. It's still one of my favourite albums of all time.

My favorite Pearl Jam album, without question. It's got several great songs in a number of different styles, some arty tracks that are very unusual compared to what we would expect from PJ ("Stupid Mop"/"Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me," "Bugs," "Aye Davanita," "Pry, To"), some of which work and some of which are just interesting/amusing little curiosities, then you've got the Punk/Garage Rock-style tracks "Satan's Bed," "Last Exit," "Spin the Black Circle" and "Whipping," the pseudo-Art Rock flavored "Tremor Christ," pissed off slow pounder "Not for You," the gorgeous "Nothingman," the two hits "Corduroy" and "Better Man" (the former being one of my very favorite PJ songs)... lots to love here. It could stand to lose a few tracks to get down to 45 mins or so because I do find myself getting a little antsy at times during a listen, but it does hold together well as an album and there are numerous songs here that rank among Pearl Jam's better material.

love the tracks 'Not For You', 'Nothingman' and 'Better Man' otherwise seems a let down from the two great albums they did before

Cheesy guitar soloing? Are you insane? Stone and Mike are two of the best guitarists of all time.

Really really great album. I loved that they reined in their cheesy guitar soloing on this one. It was like Eddie wanted the band to make a record that even Kurt Cobain would've liked - right down to the heartbreaking tribute song to him.

This is definitely my all time favorite PJ album. Don't get me wrong Ten is definitive, VS is escalation, Vitalogy is the end of the beginning, No Code is the other side if PJ, Yield is the best road trip album of all time, Binaural is probably the weakest album to date, only because they were working a new dynamic with Matt joining full time. Finding their new groove, if you will. Self titled is what it is, PJ making music for themselves and that trend has continued to this day. We will see if anything changes with the new album.
