Got into this one because I had several of the official bootlegs they released from the European tour in support of it. I'm not wild about the production/mixing of this album, but I think the songwriting is pretty damn good -- "Insignificance" and "Grievance" are great rockers, "Nothing as It Seems" and particularly "Light Years" are top-notch wistful ballads, "Of the Girl" is sort of an eerie sorta-ballad, "Breakerfall," "Gods' Dice" and "Evacuation" are good uptempo punk-y numbers... really lots to like here. My only real gripes are the aforementioned sonics letting the material down and I think the sequencing could be a bit better (three uptempo numbers right together, then ballads lumped together, etc) and there are a couple of tracks I could take or leave ("Rival," "Thin Air"). Overall though it's a very good album and is kind of underrated, it seems.

I love this album, so many of the songs just seem to envelop you with their sound.

Oh yeah, everybody loves this album now but not many did when it came out. Beauty of hindsight I guess.

One of my favourite PJ album, one of my favourite album ever... and definitly one of their best. I can't believe it's PJ's least popular album. Such an atmosphere in this one, it has more soul than any other PJ release and the compositions are on par with those of Yield, sometimes better. Breakerfall, Nothing As It Seems, Sleight of Hand (PJ's most underrated track), Thin Air or Insignificance are top tunes.

Been a PJ fan since the grunge days and this is my favourite album, there's more stand out tracks on Binaural than any other album for me. In fact i've only just purchased the self titled album as i was that disappointed Riot Act didn't touch Binaural, (plus it makes me cringe when very established bands bring eponymous albums out).

i agree with Magnificent_M this album seems to be over looked a lot, even on the last fm its the least listened album by them. when it first came out i thought it wasn't a very good album, but looking back i think it is stronger as an album than, PJ S/T and riot act, and even maybe yield which lacked the full on rock belters

I could never quite comprehend why this great album is so underappreciated by the regular hardcore Pearl Jam fan. Sonically it is their most adventurous and lyrically/poetically it ranks among Ed's best works!!! I guess the break up from Beth quite made this Ed period so edgy and thoughful while his subsequent works ("Riot Act" & "Avocado") seem to miss the lyrical depth!
