Answer to krissyknox: You are absolute right. That was a fantastic area for excellent Music, which can still be heared all over the world today. I am not sure that will happen to Rap Music of today. Regards Harry and Keep listening.

This is my husband, John, and my song! He sings it to me every night. 'You are my love, you are my life, oh, and I get high, just holding you tight...' This is from a music era (the 70s) when songs were easy, innocent, honest, and told stories. They were straight forward. Some thought of the songs in the 70s as cheesey, but geese, the songs had lyrics and evoked emotions that were heartfelt. Truthful. You don't get that anymore. You often get crazy and crude, in the name of "sophistican". I'd rather have the music we had in the 70s, what many young people now deem as cheesey, then the rap music, etc, of today. Actually, so would a lot of young people -- as evidenced by the fact that many young people are turning back toward the musick of the late 60's, the 70s (mostly 70s), and the early 80s. Now what a great music era! The young people call this music "retro". Anyway, whatever it's called, it rocks, just like this song, which my husband, John, and I proudly call "our song"!

did he crib his own melody from "cool night" with the beginning of the chorus on this one?

I didn't want to shoot to high, so I just dreamed I'd live in a shack. Dreams really do come true!

Still love this song after all these years. Quintessential 70's pop arrangement with strings and those disco-era guitar fills. Sweet.

Cheesy hit, but it's a simple song with a simple theme about love and happier times.

Saw Gino live in 1974 in a small club in Montreal after his first album came out. Was very impressed with his song writing and performance although he had to play "People got to move" twice because of his lack of material at the time. Was blown away in 1978 when he played the Montreal forum (21,000 seat stadium). Incredible performer and on stage presence. Probably one of the best shows I've seen and I've been to hundreds of them, in 30 + years. His song writing skills are next to none..Put out several magnificient albums over the years..Timeless too.
