Reasons why I hate the vocal. Poorly recorded compared to the pristine electronics, annoying hook, bad lyrics, don't fit with the music and do nothing to elevate it. They sound like Panda Bear sent him some raw vocal samples and he tried to shoehorn them into a track he had already made.

Couldn’t agree more. The only bad song on an otherwise almost perfect album.

I find this very soothing. Like the sort of thing I'd listen to after going through a very hard time and knowing that it's all finally over.

I love the Vox also. As dies-natalis says, probably one of the best tracks on that album.

Totally disagree, he fits very well! My favourite track on "Black Noise", next to "Nomads Retreat"

Black Noise is an all round great, great album. And I absolutely love all the versions of Stick To My Side I have; Four Tet, Animal Collective, Efdemin, Lawrence, Walls, Carsten Jost & Efdemin. There. I said it.....

lol I feel like this is an unpopular opinion but I love this track. Also, Noah and Hendrik should totally get together to make sweet love.

Panda's voice just doesn't work in this song at all. My fiancee and I, both fans of Animal Collective and Panda Bear, also fans of Pantha du Prince, were pretty stoked for this track but the vocals fall horribly flat. A MUSICAL collab between Panda and Pantha would be a much, much better idea. Implementation here is just not working out. Too bad, because the album is otherwise great.

R0b0hobo> Well I think it's clear to everyone including pitchfork that the vocals sucks. But my point is that panda bear draws a lot of attention to the album, and without that attention it wouldn't have got discovered and got popular among pitchfork listeners / the "indie world". His two earlier albums are also awesome, but didn't get any attention. Anyways... I just think it suck the way pitchfork made music into something were the actual music isn't very impotent but were people care more about all these other things.... it's not very alternative :)

Sovs, you are wrong Pitchfork actually criticized the track --- "Ironically the only track to stumble is the one that will likely attract the most new listeners. "Stick to My Side" is Weber's much-drooled over collaboration with Animal Collective's Noah Lennox, but oddly it doesn't come together like one would hope-- Lennox's traditionally warm vocals sound detached from Weber's chilly arrangement. That's disappointing considering the duo's combined potential, but it's not enough to derail what is otherwise an exceptional record."

I think noah's voice fits perfectly with the song, and are very strong at that. However, in context of the album the song stands out in a bad way because it is the only one with vocals on it. It's not bad if you just play it by itself, but if you play the album front to back in one sitting it breaks up the flow. They should have released it as a bonus track or on a future ep/single.

i like noah's vocals, but in the context of the song they don't really work that well [2]

"Sounds like Animal Collective" = my thoughts exactly. And it's not such a great track compared to rest of the album... in my opinion, of course.
