Biography

There are at least two artists named Pale Blue Eyes.

1. Pale Blue Eyes are a young electro-modernist guitar group, formed in South Devon in the southwest of the UK. Their debut single came out in 2021 on the band’s own label, Broadcast Recordings.
PBE’s debut album, Souvenirs, was released in 2022 on the Full Time Hobby label. The album was mixed and mastered by Dean Honer (The Moonlandingz, Róisín Murphy, I Monster, Human League). The second PBE album, This House, will be released in September 2023, again on Full Time Hobby and again mixed and mastered by Dean Honer.

Under the Radar: “Pale Blue Eyes are one of the most exciting bands to emerge from the UK in recent years. Taking their cue from the likes of M83, Slowdive and The Velvet Underground, they’ve fast become one of the circuit’s must-see acts.”

2. Pale Blue Eyes was a rock band based in Szeged, Hungary, but split in 1999. In their own words, they played 'pseudo-alternative rock, intertwined with lyrical elements', a definition that noone (including the band members themselves) understood.

Originally formed by guitarist-songwriter Levente Milassin and lyricist-singer Gergely Nagy as a punk band, S.H.I.T. (Smokers Hidden In Trees), the band was soon joined by György Balázs (guitar, viola, songwriting), the only professional musician in the group, and Árpád Szarvas, who later went on to form EZ Basic. The name was then changed to Jesus Black, which lasted for about a year; the band did a few gigs as Jesus Black, but then changed the name again to become Pale Blue Eyes. Drummers and bassists came and went frequently until 1999, when Balázs quit too, leaving only Milassin and Nagy in Pale Blue Eyes.
Pale Blue Eyes never played outside the town of Szeged, Hungary, and the only recording they made (excepting live recordings) is the 3-song EP Shiny Tender, recorded in Budapest in 1997, with the following line-up:

Levente Milassin – guitars
György Balázs – guitars, viola
Gergely Nagy – vocals
Márton Ötvös – bass
Attila Budai – drums
Balázs Burg – percussion (barrel)
