In The Heights is a 2008 Tony Best Musical Award-winning show, written by Lin-Manuel Miranda exploring three days in the characters' lives in the New York City Dominican-American neighborhood of Washington Heights. It opened Off-Broadway on February 8, 2007, gaining nine Drama Desk Award nominations and winning two. It's official Broadway opening was March 9, 2008 at The Richard Rodgers Theatre, gaining 13 Tony Award nominations in its first year and winning four including Best Musical, original score, choreography (Andy Blankenbuehler) and orchestration.
