"Twist of Fate" is the lead single from the soundtrack to the 1983 film Two of a Kind. The movie, starring Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta was a box office disappointment, but its soundtrack was a success. The album was certified platinum in the U.S. and it generated hit singles for its protagonists, Journey, and Patti Austin.
"Twist of Fate" reached number four in Australia and Canada and it peaked at number five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in January 1984. It became Newton-John's last Top-10 in the U.S. to date.
Billboard ranked "Twist of Fate" as the 42nd biggest hit of 1984 in the United States.
