The Great Dismal is an absolutely fantastic album, so glad I recently got it on vinyl! Will listen to the rest of their discography too, it'll for sure be worth it!

i just discovered it and it's not even their most popular album on Last.Fm. The album has some noisy reverb moments that remind me of Loveless by MBV.

my personal top 5 in no particular order would be: true widow, nothing, whirr, lsd and the search for god, and fleshwater !!! if you're into experimenting with some asian shoegaze stuff then i highly recommend parannoul, tokyo shoegazer, yuragi, della zyr, and tokenainamae :) they're really awesome

Esta banda es realmente asombrosa, me han hecho olvidar muchas veces de mi depresión y en vivo son oro puro. Que genialidad más genial. Los amo chicos.

Definitely disagree here. Caught them just the other day and thought they had a killer show. Their bassist brought the most energy too; no idea who she is but she put on a great performance.

How long ago do you think it was? I saw them years ago [with a different bassist] and I thought they were –way– better more recently, this last week.

She's the singer for Gouge Away (or, well, used to until the pandemic hit): https://gougeawayfl.bandcamp.com/album/burnt-sugar Also I think they really upped their live game post-pandemic. Caught them three times this year and it's always been a blast whereas the two times in 2014 and 2018 I still loved but arguably were more of an acquired taste.

I love all of their music. Every album is so fckin good! Dance on The Blacktop and and Downward Years to Come are my faves. How they express their feelings is a pure beauty.

i gotta be honest, as someone who's been a Nothing fan since Guilty of Everything, i don't agree at all with the common narrative that Nothing "fell off" after Guilty of Everything and that The Great Dismal is a much-needed course correction. don't get me wrong, i do love The Great Dismal, but i hate that people only seem to praise it while putting down Tired of Tomorrow and Dance on the Blacktop. i personally think that both of those albums are better than The Great Dismal, actually
