“Futureproof” is the first single released from the “Moral Panic II” EP.

On May 20, 2021, a video was uploaded to various NBT social media platforms. The video was just the band in a recording studio, indicating that they're working on something new. After this, multiple other videos were posted, all revealing more and more. On May 22, an image with the caption “There’s a fire” was posted to NBT social media accounts. On May 23, another “in the studio” video was posted. In this one, a computer screen is visible for a few seconds. On the computer screen, there was a music editing software open. Some noticed that the file was titled “Futureproof”, leading many to believe that this was the title of the song. Two days later, on May 25, “Futureproof” was finally announced, with a release date of June 8th. Between the announcement and the release, there were various clips of the song that could be found after finding hidden words.

The song premiered on June 8th over a radio broadcast on BBCR1. Shortly after, a music video was also released. On June 28th, the song was performed live for the first time, as the last song of the Solitude Sessions. The song also got a t-shirt based off of the cover art.
