This is very unfairly trashed as a bad album but I enjoy the songs, not his best but certainly not worst either

Take [almost] any of the songs on their own and they're awesome, but put 'em all together into one listen and you lose the peaks.[2] Agree. This album need more magic

I mean, the mood of the music is wonderful, and Booker T and the MGs sound fantastic backing Neil, there's light and room in the space they create, but all of these things get kinda obscured whenever I try to listen to the record straight through. It's unusual for Neil, too, because he's usually such a complete-album sort of guy.

I think there's a whole bunch of phenomenal songs here (Differently, title track, Goin' Home, When I Hold You in My Arms, Two Old Friends, She's a Healer), but the problem is that trying to listen to it straight through gets exhausting, and the songs end up blending together. At least that's my experience. Take [almost] any of the songs on their own and they're awesome, but put 'em all together into one listen and you lose the peaks.
