Navarone was a hard rock band from Nijmegen, The Netherlands. The five-piece got together in 2008, but remained under the radar for another four years, writing, rehearsing and working on their live show, surfacing in September 2012 with their self-released début album A Darker Shade Of White, which was recorded live in a former pig shed in Limburg and mixed by Grammy Award winning engineer Vance Powell. Navarone was praised for their energetic contemporary interpretation of classic 1970s hard rock, the powerful high voice of frontman Merijn van Haren and the filthy, interwoven guitar licks of the band's 'guitar twins', Roman Huijbreghs and Kees Lewiszong.
More albums followed: Vim and Vigor (2014), the unusual live project A Date at the Chapel (2014), Oscillation (2017) and Salvo (2018) and - finally - V (2023). The latter two albums showcased a considerably more accessible and poppy sound. The band also released two EPs: Navarone in 2009 and the part 'electric, part acoustic' Loud & Clear in 2018.
In July 2023 Navarone announced their decision to call it a day after some fifteen years together. They wrapped things up with three 'farewell shows' at Nijmegen's Doornroosje club in January 2024.
