Yeah, it's not a trash fire or anything. It's a mess that's for sure but it still has some good songs. Needed better track-sequencing and a lot of songs needed to be developed more. Ghosts is a throw-away honestly the only song I have a vendetta with.

Look, if you were expecting deep lyrics out of Muse at this point, I don't know what the hell to tell you. It's a big, loud, stupid spectacle of an album. And you know what? That's fine. It was a fun listen.

Update after a few more listens: even though this album is better than Simulation Theory, it's horrible. Hilarious Marilyn Manson and Queen plagiarism, lots of filler tracks and AWFUL production. Damn it, I can clearly hear clipping in Ghosts. Won't Stand Down chorus is wasted because it's simply not loud enough! Empty and talentless lyrics make this record even worse. Nothing to listen to here, except WSD, KOBK and Verona. And still they sound lifeless. You Make Me Feel Like It's Cringe, Muse.

I like this cheesy as-hell album, it's fun and I think a little better than Simulation Theory. I can appreciate wherever they go with their music, it was an experiment like the rest of the albums. Verona and We Are Fucking Fucked are in my top 20 Muse songs. 7.5/10

*quietly lowers it to a 6.5/10 because I've been listening to Absolution too much*

not gonna lie, the first half of the album sucks, but starting with ghosts (how can i move on), this album becomes a masterpiece. people are sleeping on verona.

i can't wrap my head around how bad this is. it's got annoyingly catchy songs that makes me wanna vomit everytime one of them goes around my mind. the lyrics are insanely hollow and don't talk about actual things. it's like matt did a list of keywords of authoritarianism and rebellion, turned them into some sentences, sung them on top of outdated sounding, obnoxiously distorted and loudly mixed pop rock tracks.

weirdly me too i kept singing VILEDA PEOPLE to my friends for a while. muse did a such a bad job that i kinda enjoyed it? i mean they could've most likely done a mediocre and forgettable album. but this is so bad it's memorable. also you should check this out if you haven't seen it already: https://youtu.be/dkgjELT7mmM

nothing, but as someone on this comment section said: if you were expecting deep lyrics out of Muse at this point, I don't know what the hell to tell you.

well why the fuck would i choose accept that they're bad now? context does matter when enjoying music but it would be nice if they had a revelation and stop making corporate bullshit music. no one's gonna give fuck about this album 10 years after.

These songs are such a fun journey through all the genres Muse played since 2006. This album is a vibe check. You either pass it or you don't.

If you thought Muse couldn't get any lower with Simulation Theory well, you were wrong.

Definitely more consistent and overall more enjoyable than their two prior albums.
