One of the greatest songs ever. Andy was the perfect bridge between the glam of T. Rex and what came to dominate the 90s.

the song is about his break up with his gf Xana. my understanding is that Andy's relation with Xana was all love and passion at first but with time Xana showed to be the more responsible of the two. She wanted Andy to quit heroin and Andy couldn't. that's why she's refered to as his lady as first but then she became a somewhat authoritative figure in his life, hence the teacher figure.

Hands down my favorite track off of the Singles soundtrack, which is where I 1st heard this song from. I didn't initially know what to think of it because I didn't know anything about the band at the time. But it's 1 of those songs that grows on you more & more over time, & then BAM, you realize just how amazing it is & love it... & it somehow continues to be even more amazing the next time you hear it, even years later. Their other stuff is really good too! They could've been so big. I feel like hearing some Temple of the Dog now...

When I saw Pearl Jam in New Orleans a couple weeks ago they did this song ... everyone (including me) was singing every word. It really made me wish Andy could have been there ...

It's like humanity's essence was trapped into this song, I can't describe how many emotions it gives me. Beautiful pieces of art can only come from beautiful souls.

Fuck, I wish I was older back in the nineties, and in Seattle. [3] Probably the Stairway To Heaven of Grunge. [7]

Best grunge AND hair metal song ever. How about that for a contradiction of truth?!
