Algleymi и это ебучий хит на хите, с 20го года слушаю и не заебало, ну еще песня с первого альбома Söngur uppljómunar годная, а остальное так, на любителя.

Check out the debut album of Sól án varma - it is like mix of Skáphe & Misþyrming.

pretty disappointing or underwhelming new album, save a handful of good moments here and there, but overall very lacking.. DG's latest interview with bardo methodology also reveals a lot of hubris (and a surprisingly "rock" attitude oriented shallow-ish way of looking at black metal) and that too far too soon in his career, and it shows in the album's lacking character and impact.

I must agree. The album is fine (perhaps a bit obtuse) but compared to what he’s doing with Skaphé, for example, it is relative child’s play.

indeed, or, even more relevantly, that sol an varma superproject in which DG is playing a main role among others.. but my main issue with its feeling, aim and substance is more than just general lacklusterness relative to his other works, as i alluded to previously.

much better than the previous one, and it clicked with me instantly and that's a rare thing... and glad that happened, sounds great but the "consecration of the spiritus flesh" seems undefeated this year

that's cuz noevdia loves to drop a new album under their banner within few weeks after an announcement, it is actually nice compared to all those labels promoting their shit up to entire year before an actual release date

Well I can see many complain about directon that Misþyrming took on this record. In my opinion to many people expected another Algleymi.

New album is much more straight-forward than their previous two. But it doesn't even matter that much when it still riffs so fucking hard.

hellyeah, the dream comes true. I can't wait to see these guys with Ritual Death. I thought I'd never see them live for some unknown to me reason.

Algleymi might be my favorite icelandic BM release so far. Its components are all common in BM, but the little nuances and unexpected twists in song-writing set it apart. Great production too.

Say what you want, but Stjörnuþoka is the best ambient piece on a BM album ever.

You are a little bit late. 5 years ago "Hooded Black Metal" was something new and innovative. Today a lot bands have it... it makes no difference to corpse paint anymore.

Are we listening to the same band? They have very little in common with Mgla. The song structures are way more complex and overall they are a lot darker and more evil. If you had to compare them to another band it would probably be something along the lines of Sinmara or Selbst.

That one fucking riff around the 50 second mark in Söngur Heiftar makes me want to commit arson and stab my mom.

Both albums are excellent in their different ways. I hope the next one combines elements of both.

I haven't listened to them much yet. How would you describe their respective elements that differ?

hard to say, even though they're clearly different records in style. söngvar elds of óreidu is a dense hellride that's underlined in its blisteringly cold mercilessness by some excellent dark ambient interludes. it's all about the overall atmosphere. alglyemi has less of a "concept" feel and just delivers with sick riffs, an absurd vocal performance and overall great pacing and diversity in songwriting. the one thing that both albums have in common is how insanely good misthyrming are. they are completely unfuckwithable (i picked that term up from a shout that was in this box a year-or-so ago) and just do whatever the fuck they want and impress with that - which, by the way, seamlessly translates into their live performance.
